Halloween events planned for Montezuma County

Events cater to kids and adults
There are many costume parties in the area to celebrate Halloween.

There are several options to celebrate Halloween in the area for adults and kids.

On Oct. 26 at 6 p.m., there is a costume party at the Elks Lodge for adults 21 and over. There will be prizes for best male, best female, and best couple. Join Mr. Soul and sing the night away.On Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. at Parque de Vida, 425 Roger Smith Ave., is the Spooky Paws Howl-O-Ween Walk. The fundraiser benefits Mountain Paws Rescue Centers, a new nonprofit training and rehabilitation center that focuses on pit bulls. Donations will be accepted. There will be food, drinks and games and a costume contest for owner/pet costumes.On Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. the Stillhouse Junkies will play the WildEdge Brewing Collective, 11 N. Market St. Cover is $5. There will be a costume contest with judging at the set break. The winner gets a $50 WildEdge gift certificate.On Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. is the Kids Halloween Spooktacular at the Cortez Elks Lodge, 2100 N. Dolores Road. Costumes are optional, and there will games and free food.On Oct. 31, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Cortez Integrated Healthcare, 691 E. Empire St., will be giving out free candy. Show off your costume and pick up a candy treat.On Oct. 31, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. the Dolores United Methodist Church, 105 N. Eighth St., in Dolores will host a free children’s carnival. Come and meet “Larry Boy in Veggie Town,” play games, enjoy free hot dogs and candy, and listen to live music. Come in your costume, meet family and friends and meet new Pastor Teresa Adams. For more information call 970-882-7780.On Oct. 31, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. the Mancos Library, 211 W. First St., will host a Halloween party. There will be crafts, face painting, mystery boxes and homemade chili.
