Habitat opens sales center

Habitat for Humanity of Montezuma County now has its own sales center!

Located at 6786 Highway 160/491, next to Belt Salvage, the center is open and ready for business. Sales have been brisk for the new operation, which is rewarding after the time and hard work put in by volunteers getting the building ready for its new role as a sales center.

Manager Lynn Anderson would like to encourage residents to begin their spring cleaning now and bring “gently used” home furnishings, appliances, and building materials to the center. The reward is triple-fold: they’ll be de-cluttering their own homes, recycling, which is great for the environment, and providing inventory that the center will sell to fund local Habitat projects.

Center hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and folks can shop or drop off donations during any of those hours. Visit the Habitat website (HabitatMontezuma.org) for a complete list of desirable and unacceptable items, or call Anderson at 565-8327 for more information or assistance in getting a donation to the center..

Habitat’s mission is to provide “decent, affordable housing.” Local residents can help by bringing items to the sales center, volunteering their time, or making a financial contribution. Checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 1261, Cortez, CO 81321. Donations can also be made by going to the website and using PayPal, an easy, secure way of transferring funds. Help make the Montezuma County Habitat Sales Center a success.
