The Habitat for Humanity of Montezuma County is looking for volunteers to dedicate a few hours a week to work at the ReStore south of Cortez. They are also hiring one part-time employee and one full-time employee.

The organization is looking for dedicated people to volunteer or apply who want to make a difference in their community, according to a news release Tuesday.

“Volunteers are the heart of our organization, and their contributions help us build homes and hope,” the release said. “Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity is a rewarding experience that allows you to directly impact the lives of local families in need of safe, affordable housing.”

Robert Galin, Executive Director of the Habitat, explained that volunteers would help with the intake process of donations, as well as helping customers and keeping the store clean and organized, and more.

Volunteers who speak Spanish, Ute or Navajo are encouraged, Galin said.

The Habitat is also looking for volunteers for construction projects, Galin told The Journal. The organization has expanded into Dolores County and is working on upgrading the plumbing and bathroom for a senior citizen, at the request of Dolores County Social Services.

Those applying for the paid positions would work as a retail sales associate and merchandiser at the ReStore, 6786 U.S. Highway 491. To apply, send a resume and cover letter to info@habitatmontezuma.org or apply online on Indeed.

Interested volunteers can call (970) 565-8312 to learn more about the opportunities available.

This article has been updated to include a correction of Galin’s name and more information about volunteer opportunities.
