Guynes leads Bulldogs in Grand Junction

Senior cracks top 10 in hurdles at track meet

Another meet, another set of top-10 finishes for Corissa Guynes and the Dove Creek High School girls track team.

Leading the Bulldogs in the always-competitive Grand Junction Tiger Invitational, May 2-3, Corissa Guynes was solid, placing fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (49.15) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (17.44).

Also cracking the top 20 for the Bulldogs, Jessica Guynes finished 17th in the 800 (2:39.72).

The Guynes sisters also played a key role in the Bulldogs 4x200 meter relay, which finished tenth overall (1:56.87).

Leading Dove Creek on the boys’ side, Tyson Smith finished 37th in the shot put (33 feet), Shane Fury finished 43rd in the 800 (2:36.27) and Tommy Fury finished 44th in the 800 (2:38.53).

The boys’ 4x200 meter relay also turned in a decent performance for the Bulldogs, finishing 12th overall (1:41.64).

Next up for the Dove Creek track teams will be the San Juan Basin League Meet, which will take place in Grand Junction, May 9-10.
