Gunfire erupts at San Juan Plaza; up to 30 bullets recovered

The Farmington Police Department is investigating a weekend shooting at the San Juan Plaza.

Officers were called to the scene at 12:07 a.m. Sunday at 3030 E. Main St. regarding shots being fired at Hobby Lobby. Additional dispatch calls followed.

As of Tuesday, police had recovered as many as 30 bullets and learned from witnesses that two to three people were involved, according to Farmington Police spokeswoman Shanice Gonzales.

“All suspects fled the scene, which covered most of the parking lot area,” she said. “No injuries have been reported at this time.”

A vehicle and six businesses including, Michael’s, Dollar General, What the Junk, Second Hand Wolf, Spirit Halloween and a laundromat sustained damage from the gunfire, Gonzales said.
