Griffin Family to create community cattle brand exhibit

The William A. Griffin family will create the Mancos Valley Brand Project, a public art sculpture whereby ranchers in the Mancos Valley can exhibit their artistic cattle brands. The sculpture will hold 40 tiles, each tile etched with a person’s name or the name of the ranch.

Two local artists have collaborated on the sculpture design: Steve Williams, Cowboy Forge and Marilyn Kroeker, artist and owner of Raven House Gallery. The sculpture will also include a history lesson about branding and its importance to ranching.

For information on how to apply to have your brand etched in a tile, email marianne.griffin@gmail.com. The etching fee is $125.00 but is not required at this time.
