In honor of the “The Blacksmith” opera’s run at the Mancos Opera House this spring, local artist Brad Goodell has created a fine art print of – you guessed it – a blacksmith.
This is the first opera to have been performed at the historic Opera House on Grand Avenue. The show is significant in that it is tailored to the Mancos Valley. Goodell’s prints were created on the Mancos Common Press, another historical renovation project.
Goodell’s handiwork can be seen on murals in Mancos and Cortez that celebrate local history and culture.
The 11-by-14-inch limited edition prints will go on sale April 2, and part of the proceeds will go to the Mancos Common Press. Fifty prints will be available for $80.
