Ute Mountain Ute elder Emily Whiteman, center, officially lit up the new Ute Mountain Casino sign along with the tribal council Tuesday afternoon. The new marquee has an 18 foot tall by 42 foot wide screen that is dramatically larger than the old sign and includes the latest LED technology. It has improved energy efficiency and vastly improved picture clarity and color intensity. The display stands 17 foot taller and can be seen from much farther distances from either approach on Highway 491. Overall, it is almost 50% bigger than what was there before.The new marquee is the first in a series of renovations and improvements planned by the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe for the casino, hotel and resort to assure the success and well being of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe now and for generations to come.
