The 2017 George Geer Memorial Car Show will be held in Centennial Park, starting about 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Hosted by the Blue Star Moms Southwest Chapter 2 of Colorado, the show is held every year to honor George Geer, a Montezuma County soldier who died in Iraq in 2005. It costs $35 to enter a vehicle, but the show is free to the public. Proceeds go to benefit veterans and their families.

Car owners can also compete in a burn-off contest at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Angel’s End Zone, 309 N. Broadway. Registration and parking for the main show will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday on the fields of Centennial Park, which is on North Park Street between the Cortez Public Library and the Cortez Police Department.
