Fundraiser film screening to support residents’ legal defense

Chilcoat

The documentary “No Man’s Land,” by director David Byars, will be shown from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave., to raise money for the legal defense of Durango residents Mark Franklin and Rose Chilcoat.

Franklin and Chilcoat were charged last April with multiple criminal offenses after Franklin closed a livestock enclosure gate in San Juan County, Utah.

The documentary tells the story of the 2016 armed occupation, led by Ammon Bundy, of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in eastern Oregon.

The event will feature a silent auction.

Tickets are $12 in advance at Maria’s Bookshop, 960 Main Ave., or $15 at the door the day of the event.

To make a donation for the silent auction, email louisecvanvonno@gmail.com.
