Summer is an important time for kids’ and teens’ academic and physical well-being. Without access to regular nutritious meals, they can suffer long-term consequences, both academically and in overall growth and development. Studies show that kids are at a higher risk for both hunger and obesity during the summer months.

To meet the needs of local kids and teens, Care and Share Food Bank will again sponsor the Summer Food Service Program for children ages 1 to 18 from June 3 through Aug. 9, Monday through Friday. The program will provide free lunches from noon to 1 p.m. at The Piñon Project, 210 E. Main St.
