The Four Corners Writers have announced a public reading of its first anthology, “Four Corners Voices: Stories, Poetry and Esays,” which was published in the fall of 2024. The reading will take place at the Sunflower Theatre, 8 E. Main St., on Saturday, June 25 at 7 p.m.
Tickets to the reading are $10, and copies of the anthology will be available for purchase at the event. Tickets can be reserved online at www.sunflowertheatre.org/events/live-readings-from-four-corners-voices/.
At the start of the reading, writer and Four Corners Writers’ board member Bethany Turner will introduced the readers for the event. The readers all have work that is featured in the anthology. These individuals include short story writers David Feela, Kevin Jones, Grace Morledge and Anne Benson, essayists Kat Wilder, Gus Hallin, Amorina Lee-Martinez and Beth Henshaw, as well as poets Kirbie Bennett, Sarah Carr, Geneva Toland, Gennys Moulton, Vincent L.K. and Renee Pudonovich.
The anthology was made possible by the LOR Foundation and 81321 Launch. It includes 24 poems, 13 essays and 12 short stories. It is available wherever books are sold, as well as on the Four Corners Writers’ website.
The stories, essays and poems included in the 256-page anthology were selected by coeditors and local writers Chuck Greaves, Lisa C. Taylor and Mark Stevens. Greaves chose short stories; Taylor, the poetry; and Stevens, the essays, after submissions were received last summer.
“Among the writers are established regional authors as well as many writers who are earning their first publication credit with this anthology,” Taylor said. “Ages range from high school to a septuagenarian.”
The Four Corners Writers meet monthly at the Zu Gallery from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., typically on the third Wednesday of each month. At these gatherings, writers and those interested in writing can attend free workshops, panel discussions, networking and presentations that have to do with writing and publishing.
More information about the group can be found on their website at www.rocksprings.my.canva.site/fourcornerswriters.
