Now that COVID-19, is exiting Stage Left as mysteriously as it arrived, it feels appropriate to recognize a few unsung heroes, and offer thanks.
Thank you, to the hardworking staff in the pickup departments at Walmart and City Market! You guys bring to mind, “Through rain, sleet, hail and snow ...”
Thank you to the industrious and grossly underpaid caregivers who did the shopping, ran errands and made it possible for our elderly and compromised family members to stay healthy through the pandemic.
Thank you to the remarkable people who keep Good Samaritan Food Bank up and running, providing nutritious food to families in need. With inflation throttling the economy, its organizations like yours that keep families fed.
Thank you to our law enforcement and EMS agencies for your diligence in the face of ferocious political initiatives designed to discourage, dissuade and decimate you.
Thank you to all the restaurants, cafes, repair shops, etc. that bounced and gave us pickup windows and lanes, and stayed open at personal sacrifice. We won’t forget.
Lastly, thank you to the good neighbors out there. You know who you are. Thank you for those friendly waves, fruit baskets, farm fresh eggs, encouraging words and shoveled sidewalks. As anyone with an ogre next door knows, a kind neighbor can make even a hovel a home. You are what’s best about Four Corners.
Fires of adversity separate dross from gold, and the past 2½ years has proven the Four Corners community to be 14 karat.
