Four Corners Home and Garden Show is this weekend

New this year: Firefighters plan demonstrations for kids

For people who are thinking about remodeling or taking on a home improvement project this spring, the Four Corners Home and Garden Show is the place to be.

“It’s a good way to see people in the community and get their advice,” events coordinator Jaynee Crockett said.

The show takes place at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds on April 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and April 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for seniors age 65 and older. Kids age 12 and under are free, and parking is free.

Crockett said the Cortez Fire Protection District will be at the show on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fire crews will provide information on fire safety and put on demonstrations for kids, she said.

A classic car show will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show will feature cars from locals and people from surrounding states. People will be able to vote on awards for their favorite cars, such as the best interior and best paint job, Crockett said.

Crockett said this year’s show will feature lots of new vendors, including hot tubs and jewelry companies. One vendor will be selling homemade bath bombs at this year’s show, she said.

People at the show will be able to vote for their favorite vendor booths, she said.

“It’s fun to see the winners from last year up their game,” Crockett said.

Jack and Janelle’s Country Kitchen will provide food for the whole weekend.

Raffle prizes include a Yeti Cooler donated by Slavens Hardware and a 39-inch TV donated by Wal-Mart. The top prize is a one-night couples getaway at Pagosa Hot Springs.
