Four Corners gun club seeks missing flag

The Four Corners Rifle and Pistol Club is seeking a flag that was taken down without permission at the outdoor rifle range on U.S. Highway 160.

Hal Shepherd, vice president of the club’s executive committee, said the flag, which was a casket flag being displayed in honor of a Montezuma County veteran, disappeared sometime in the last week of October and was replaced with a new one. He said the club already had plans to replace the flag due to wear, but he wants to find the old flag in order to return it to the veteran’s family.

“All we want to do is find the flag so we can properly dispose of it,” he said.

The flag had been displayed for about five months before it disappeared, and was beginning to develop some fabric tears, Shepherd said. He said he believed whoever replaced it had good intentions, but added that it would mean a lot to the veteran’s family if the original flag was recovered.

He asked anyone with knowledge of the flag’s whereabouts to contact him at 970-749-3054.
