Four Corners antenna station seeks sponsors, develops programming

South West TV aims to fill void in region

A start-up antenna television station in Cortez is forging ahead with new programming as it hopes to grow its audience and sponsors.

South West TV LLC, a station that airs on 30.6 via antenna transmission, made its on-air debut this March. It began as an idea drummed up three years ago by Jedekiah Coy and Charles Boyd.

Since March, Coy and Boyd have been working to develop a full programming schedule. Programs include cooking shows, information and meeting broadcasts from local government agencies, broadcasts from local events, weather reports and more.

"We get channels from Denver, Grand Junction. There's nothing geared to Cortez and the Four Corners area specifically," said Coy, on the reason behind a start-up station.

Production takes place out of a studio in Family Worship Center in Cortez, and is run solely by Coy and Boyd. Like any start-up business, the venture has been mostly self-funded, but South West TV hopes that will change as it gains more viewers and sponsors. The station is always looking for more content, Coy said, and encourages anyone with programming ideas and suggestions to reach out with feedback.

"If you like the idea of a public channel, in TV format we'd love your support," said Coy.
