Flood advisory issued for Cortez area, parts of Montezuma County

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a flood advisory for urban areas and small streams in central Montezuma County in Southwest Colorado until 8:15 p.m. Monday.

At 5:10 p.m., a trained weather spotter reported heavy rain and street flooding in Cortez, the weather service said, noting that additional locations near Cortez are also prone to flooding.

Locations that may experience flooding include:

U.S. Highway 491 from mile marker 27 and 31, north from Cortez.U.S. 160 from mile marker 29 to 46, north of the Ute Mountain Casino to west of Mesa Verde.Colorado Highway 145 from mile marker 1 to mile marker 6, the U.S. 160 junction to County Road S.
