Farmington stair climb honors fallen NYC firefighters

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation invites the public to join firefighters and the community on Saturday, Sept. 7, for the 2024 Four Corners 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and 5K Walk at Ricketts Park in Farmington.

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs honor the firefighters of the Fire Department of New York who died in the attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

Participants climb 2,200 steps, representing the 110 stories of the World Trade Center – symbolically completing the 9/11 climb to save others.

“The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs are an opportunity for anyone in the community to demonstrate respect and admiration for these courageous firefighters who gave their lives trying to save others,” said NFFF CEO Victor Stagnaro in a news release. “It’s also a way to promise their loved ones that we will always remember.”

Stair Climbs fund NFFF’s programs to support the families of fallen firefighters and the FDNY Counseling Service Unit. Register online at 2024 Four Corners 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and 5K Walk or on-site the day of the climb. Registration opens at 5 p.m. at Ricketts Park, 1362 Vine Ave.; opening ceremonies start at 6 p.m. The fee is $35; all participants will receive an honorary badge of one of the fallen heroes of Sept. 11.
