FARMINGTON – Officers with the Farmington Police Department were involved in a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon.
Police responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the areas of Arrington Street, Lake Street and Allen Avenue on Monday and ordered nearby residents to shelter in place, according to a post on the Farmington Police Department’s Facebook page.
Just before 4 p.m., the shelter-in-place order was lifted, but officers remained in the area. An update warned of police activity in the 100 block of W. Animas Street and urged residents to seek an alternate route. Shortly after 5 p.m., police reported officers were involved in a shooting with an armed subject.
“All officers and uninvolved citizens are safe,” the post read. “The suspect is at the hospital being treated.”
The case is under investigation by the San Juan County Officer Involved Shooting Task Force.
