Members learn about bike safety, crime scene investigation

The Farmington Police Department participated in multiple events at Sycamore Park Community Center as part of its spring break Youth Life Skills Week.

FPD park rangers started the week by discussing bike and park safety with community center members Monday. Children were able to visit with park rangers and check out the vehicles they use to patrol parks in Farmington.

FPD’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit presented a short crime scene class and conducted a fingerprint exercise at the community center Wednesday, March 15, according to its Facebook page.

Wrapping up the week will be a presentation from the FPD Bomb Squad at 1 p.m. Friday at the community center.

The community center’s Youth Life Skills Week presented a variety of talks and activities for members this week. Other events included presentations from Kids ICAN, Diné Community Advocacy Alliance and Farmington Fire Department, as well as daily field trips, dance and craft classes, sports activities and scavenger hunts.
