The Farmington Police Department announced this week it has arrested Daryl Levi on suspicion of five incidents of arson, and is investigating him in connection with another nine cases.
According to the police department, 13 dumpster fires and one vehicle fire were set between Dec. 17 and Jan. 11. All were determined to be arson.
According to a news release sent Thursday, five of the dumpster fires took place the evening of Jan. 11, when police made contact with Levi, 38, who investigators later identified as the suspect “through business surveillance and body camera footage.”
A warrant was issued for Levi on suspicion of five counts of arson and a search was issued for him.
Police were able to locate and apprehend Levi after the on-duty Farmington Fire Department battalion chief recognized him while driving. That chief then notified police, who made contact with Levi.
Levi was taken to jail and booked on the warrant.
