Farmington man dies after being hit twice on U.S. 64 near Bloomfield

Farmington man hit by two vehicles

Johnathan Yazzie, 46, was struck and killed by two different vehicles Saturday while walking along U.S. Highway 64, at about milepost 57, near Bloomfield.

The collisions occurred about 7:40 p.m., according to New Mexico State Police.

The initial investigation indicated that for unknown reasons, Jonathan Yazzie of Farmington was walking southbound in the eastbound lanes of travel of U.S. 64. He was struck by a 1997 Ford Ranger, and then again by a 2004 Lincoln passenger car.

Yazzie pronounced dead on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. Alcohol does not appear to have been used by either driver, the news release stated.

This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
