Film Four Corners “Film Festival 2023” will run Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 7-9, in downtown Farmington at the historic Totah Theater, 315 W. Main.

The event kicks off Thursday at 9 a.m. with screenings throughout the day and a reception at Artifacts 302, 302 E. Main, Farmington. There will be a cash bar by Clancy’s Pub.

“At the End of the Santa Fe Trail,” a film by award-winning director Tomas Sanchez of New Mexico, will show at 6 p.m. Friday.

The film was chosen by Festival De Cannes Marche Du Film Screening Palais H, on May 20, 2023.

Teia Camacho, executive director of Film Four Corners, said that after taking a year off in 2022 they look to rebound this year with a strong and diverse film festival.

“Yeah, this is going to be fun, We didn’t have one last year because we were in transition. We’ve got some really good flicks from most of the Four Corners,” with the exception of Arizona, Camacho said, adding that they have a “really good lineup.”

Camacho, who has been involved with Film Four Corners since its inception in 2019, said it was the brainchild of Brent Garcia, who has moved on to produce films and teach at Navajo Preparatory School.

The mission of Film Four Corners is to “make it as easy as possible for local filmmakers and large scale, out-of-state productions to film in the Four Corners region,” as stated on their website.

As stated, “they strive to be the “connector between the industry and local film creators.”

Current board members are Jordan Richards, Tiffany Akin, Georgette Allen, Haleigh Bassing, Robert Martinez, chairman Devin Neeley and co-chairman Michael Bullock. Camacho is a nonvoting member.

Tomas Sanchez, director of “At the End of the Santa Fe Trail,” along with many of the leading characters including Alma Sisneros, who plays Sister Blandina, will be here for the festival.

Camacho said art director, Ray Gallegos and actors Freddy Lopez, Forrie J. Smith and kid actor Shylo Molina may also be in attendance.

Camacho, whose business To the T Production is geared to event coordination, said she works with a lot of local nonprofits with their fundraising events.

“It's fun. What’s neat about it is you get to meet a lot of different people, and get to help serve the community as well,” she said.
