Habitat for Humanity

New homeowner Logan Vigil and his two children were welcomed by family, friends, volunteers, supporters and staff of Habitat for Humanity of Montezuma County for the home’s dedication on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Habitat of Montezuma County partners with families who are selected based on their income, need for housing, and willingness to become partners with the organization. The families earn sweat equity by helping to build their home or work on other Habitat projects and are required to take a homeowner class. Financing carries a low interest rate.

Dan Belt, who passed away last fall, was recognized during the dedication program. Belt was instrumental in helping Habitat establish and expand its ReStore fundraising project. Belt’s life partner, Shirley Lippis, and his sons Kelly and Chris attended the dedication, and a plaque in his honor is attached to the home.
