CDOT is repaving a section of Highway 491 starting Aug. 13. Drivers may be delayed briefly.
A short section of the highway will be smoothed over starting Aug. 13

Drivers traveling on U.S. Highway 491 in Cortez between Lebanon Road and the Maverick gas station, at 10223 Highway 491, could experience delays as road crews work to repave a small section of the highway.

According to a Facebook alert from the Colorado Department of Transportation, the work will smooth the transition between the concrete pour and the pavement. Crews start Aug. 13 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will work through the early part of next week.

CDOT hopes to keep traffic moving in both directions, but five- to 10-minute delays may be necessary, according to the alert. Traffic will be single lane in both directions, and signage and flagging personnel will guide traffic through the area. Road work will also depend on weather conditions.
