Embarrassingly unimaginative is the kindest description there is for Durango’s anemic drone show during Tuesday’s Independence Day Celebration. Having watched fireworks in Durango since the mid 1950’s, I was more than disappointed.
Unfortunately, so were the people seated next to us, relative newcomers to Durango and their guests from Phoenix. As everyone gathered up their belongings after the show, they remarked, “Well, that’s something we will never have to do again.“ Neither will our household.
If Durango is committed to eliminating fireworks from the Fourth of July celebration, I suggest they save the money paid for a lackluster performance and, instead, publish locations and schedules for surrounding communites’ events that truly celebrate the day.
