I am writing to express my concerns about Sherri Wright’s actions as a board member, which show she is not the right candidate for CD3 State Board of Education. It was confirmed that Ms. Wright violated open meeting laws by colluding with other board members to push the sitting superintendent to resign, and she failed to ensure that an executive session was audio recorded, as required by law. This raises questions about her commitment to our district’s best interests, her integrity, and her transparency.
During the pandemic, when strong leadership was essential, Ms. Wright failed to offer guidance. She was unable to manage board meetings effectively, allowing agendas to be derailed and leaving board members and community members vulnerable to harassment and outright threats. Her actions showed an inability to maintain decorum, and an inability or unwillingness to adapt to changing needs and goals.
We need board members who will uphold trust and integrity – not undermine them, and we need state board members with an ability to adapt and prepare students for the future, not the past. I encourage you to vote for Ellen Angeles, a candidate with a passion for public education and a commitment to putting students first.
