Dear Montezuma County residents,
I am writing to endorse Ellen Angeles for the District 3 representative to the Colorado State Board of Education. As a former Western Slope teacher and principal for 32 years, I would like to see Ellen fill this very important position. Ellen is running for this position so she can have a positive impact on the 27 school districts in this vast district. School district and state education policy has become very confusing. I welcome the lens of an educator and parent on the State Board of Education.
Ellen taught in Leadville, Durango and Montrose schools for 20 years. Prior to education, Ellen worked in the finance sector as a bank manager and performing corporate sales. Ellen has been a volunteer as long as she can remember. She cares deeply about her community and advocates for strong public education wherever she has lived. She doesn’t know a stranger and tells folks that her superpower is “collaboration.” Ellen is hoping to serve this unpaid, six-year volunteer position.
Ellen is not so much interested in running as a Democrat but prefers to run so that she can represent all students in District 3. Her positive spirit, intelligence, ability to collaborate and experience with public education make her an excellent candidate for District 3 State Board of Education.
