Early Learning Center appreciates support

The Mancos Early Learning Center appreciates the continuing support received since opening the doors last January 2013.

Mancos High School senior Ty Koppenhafer helped with landscaping the property. By doing so, he would satisfy the requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout. He also attained help from Western Excelsior, Southwest Seed, and IFA with materials to complete his design. Supporting him was a crew of family, friends, Scouts and football players.

Many parents and community members stepped up to erect the climbing/sliding structure the Mancos School District had purchased. T & M Dirtworks, Hurst Trucking, and AB Trucking donated hauling hours, leaving Soft Play material to be spread around the play area.

Western Excelsior donated more logs to help hold the Soft Play material in place. Mike Chadwick gave tractor service to spread the material. The Early Learning Center is proud to say the playground is completed and the children heartily approve.

Adding to the excitement this fall, Red Wagon and Four Corners Solar installed six solar panels, which will help the school save money. Promoting a healthy lifestyle for children and using clean renewable resources are part of the early childhood curriculum. The ELC staff and children would like to thank the following for all their support, time and hard work: Ty Koppenhafer, Amy Koppenhafer, Vance & Maria Koppenhafer, Brandon Hood-Farley, Justin Burton, Axel Bonde, Mikkel Waltman, Kolby Waltman, Michelle Waltman, Brady Sanders, Brooke & Wes Smith, Tyra and Blake Hughes, Theresa Oakes, Grace Kennedy, Jim Row, Rex Zufelt, Tim Hunter, Travis Koncher, Christine & Jerry Chadwick, Mike & Pearlie Chadwick, Nikki Kramer, and Tricia & Craig Nelson, T & M Dirtworks, Inc, AB Trucking, Hurst Trucking, Jordan House (Four Corners Solar) and Todd Kearns (Red Wagon Energy), Kyle Hanson & Eddie Comiskey (Western Excelsior), IFA Southwest Seed Company. Your time, energy and support in completing these projects are a grand example for our little ones to follow.
