A Durango man in his mid-20s remains at large after fleeing from police, crashing a car into a house and then taking off on foot earlier this week.

A La Plata County Sheriff’s Office deputy made contact with Freedom Anderson, who had a felony warrant, at the Durango Post Office, 22 W. Eighth St., on Monday morning.

Anderson, however, reportedly drove off. The vehicle was seen again on north Main Avenue and pursued by law enforcement. Anderson then crashed the vehicle into the carport and front entry of the house, before fleeing on foot.

Anderson was last seen wearing a black hat and gray sweatshirt. He is wanted on suspicion of weapon charges, and is considered armed and dangerous. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Chris Burke said Thursday a warrant has been issued for Anderson’s arrest.
