A single-vehicle rollover closed U.S. Highway 160 in both directions about 1:40 p.m. Saturday east of Elmore’s Corner on U.S. Highway 160. Two boys and a 19-year-old man were taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Drugs are a possible factor in the crash.

Two boys and a 19-year-old man were injured Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover east of Elmore’s Corner on U.S. Highway 160.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Jeff Chmielewski said the driver, one of the juveniles, and a back seat passenger, the 19-year-old from Durango, were ejected and seriously injured in the crash. They were transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center.

The other passenger, the second juvenile, also suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy, Chmielewski said.

Seat belts were not used by the two occupants who were ejected. In addition, he said drugs are suspected as a factor in the crash.

The crash occurred about 1:40 p.m. Saturday near mile post 93. The juvenile was driving a 1999 beige Saturn passenger car and was headed westbound, Chmielewski said.

Highway 160 was closed in both directions while medical and law enforcement officials worked the scene.
