The Ignacio High School baseball team squared off with Dove Creek on Thursday.

The game was close, but Dove Creek managed to score a 9-7 victory to get into the win column.

Dove Creek is now 1-1 while Ignacio moved to 0-2 after the loss.

The Bobcats, however, will have another chance Saturday when the team visits Nucla.

The game will be Nucla’s season opener.

Ignacio’s next contest after that won’t be until April 2, when the team hosts Custer County for a doubleheader.

Dove Creek, meanwhile, will next play March 25-26, when the team heads to New Mexico to play Tahatchi and Rehoboth Christian.
