Dolores track teams compete at state

For the Dolores High School track teams, the Colorado State Track Championships yielded season best results and four podium finishes.

Leading the way for the Dolores girls' team was senior Taylor Elder, who finished fifth in the long jump (16 feet, 5¼ inches) and ninth in the triple jump (33 feet,¼ inch) in the final meet of her high school career.

Also competing individually for the Lady Bears were junior Larissa Umberger and senior Jessica Schleisser, who placed 14th in the 100-meter hurdles (18.03) and 14th in the discus (91 feet, 11 inches), respectively.

The Lady Bears 4x200 meter relay made up of Olivia Wright, Kelly Charles, Nichole Kibel and Elder finished sixth in prelims (1:49.51) and seventh in finals (1:51.29).

The Lady Bears 4x400-meter relay composed of the same athletes finished 12th overall (4:18.46).

As a team, the Lady Bears finished 26th overall in Class 2A and Paonia High School won the meet.

On the boys' side, Dolores was represented individually by senior Mikeal Ford, who finished 7th in the 100-meter dash (11.70) after finishing 8th in the 100-meter dash in prelims.

The Bears 4x100-meter relay composed of Tristan Holgate, Guy Wallace, Branden Donaldson and Ford finished 18th overall.

As a team, the Bears finished 36th overall and Lyons High School won the Class 2A meet.
