After a brief closure, Dolores’ most scenic restaurant and bar has reopened under new management.
The mother-son team of Stacey Pearson and Cody Bracken has opened up the Dolores Tavern at 1319 Railroad Ave. Formerly the Riverfront Bar and Grill, the restaurant is a local favorite for its live music and outdoor deck and patio along the rushing Dolores River.
Pearson, who comes from a background of managing bars in the Phoenix area, says a business succeeds with good employees and consistent quality. She and Bracken are kicking it up a notch by focusing on exceptional food served up with top customer service.
“We’ve brought in a professional staff to serve great meals and drinks to the community in a fun, safe atmosphere,” she said. “Our reverse happy hour means great drink deals later in the evening.”
The Dolores Tavern’s large bar and dance floor, riverside dining, pool tables, sports on big-screen TVs, beer pong tournaments and Western decor is the perfect storm for a fun night out or a peaceful lunch or dinner watching the river go by.
The traditional menu of burgers, steaks, pizzas, and sandwiches are made fresh to order, served up timely and are a good value, Pearson said.
“We offer some Italian fare as well,” she said.
The new Dolores Tavern is carrying on the honky-tonk tradition of Dolores, established by the defunct Hollywood Bar and Cafe, which burned down in 2012 after more than 100 years in business.
There’s karaoke on Thursdays, live music on Saturdays and an ongoing pool tournament.
“We will continue to have local bands, country and rock. We’ve brought the pool tournaments back – beer pong on Sundays is always a hit,” Pearson says. “Our staff is very dedicated and proud to make this a place where locals and tourists come to relax, have a good time and enjoy an excellent meal.”
