Dolores Pee-wee Wrestling Club hosts successful tournament

Event draws 14 wrestling clubs and 440 wrestlers to Montezuma-Cortez High School gym

Competing in front of parents and fans who filled Montezuma-Cortez High School’s gymnasium to its capacity, 440 youth wrestlers executed throws, made escapes and scored pins during a youth wrestling tournament hosted by the Dolores Pee-wee Wrestling Club on April 6.

Among the individual champions for Dolores were Emilio Duran, Jaiden Green, Adam Hicks, Zane Hermann, Noah Hobbs, Daniel Jacket, Ryatt Loomis, Sage MacMillian, Gage Mueller, JJ Robson, Teagun Samora, Sage Scott, Bodie Stiegelmeyer, Brooks Story, Cash Taylor, River Wickstrom and Jordan Yazzie.

Second-place finishers for Dolores included Kaianna Ashmore, Kyle Black, Aubrielle Duran, Emma Emith, Abigail Green, Dylan Hanson, Darren Hicks, Zaine Johnson, Asher Liukko, True Loomis Michael Millard, Willy Millard, Kason Pixler, Jaxx Robson, Tristan Schuster and Ayden Winter.

Third-place finishers for Dolores included Jackson Beattie, Tyshawn Begay, Jevon Bia, Kenji Edwards, Devin Eichner, Hunter Ferguson, Liam Ferguson, Madisyn Schuster, Kyle Shoopman, Triston Scott, Samual Smith, Jacob Stepp, Zach Taylor and Devon Wall.

Fourth-place finishers for Dolores included Silden Begay, Akaia Edwards, Dillon Eichner, Daniel Philpott, Kadon Ruiz and Marshal Wickstrom.

Youth wrestling clubs from Bayfield; Blanding, Utah; Cortez; Dolores; Dove Creek; Durango; Ignacio; Mancos; Monticello, Utah; Norwood; Sheepcamp, N.M.; and Shiprock N.M., were among the clubs that competed in the event.

Next up for the Dolores Pee-wee Wrestling Club is a tournament that will take place at Piedra Vista High School in Farmington on April 13.
