Dolores Mountain Quilters release results of biennial show

The public votes for their favorite creations; popular show attracted more than 700 attendees

Results have been released on the Dolores Mountain Quilters show, held Aug. 19-20.

The group holds a biennial quilt show at the Dolores Community Center. This year, 125 quilts on display, and 756 people attended the show.

Attendees cast votes for their favorite quilts in different categories, and 412 ballots were filled out, said Judith Swain, a member of the quilt show publicity committee.

Every two years, the Dolores Mountain Quilters designs, pieces and quilts a bed-size quilt for raffle during the quilt show. The Best of Show quilt went to Jenifer Ibscher for her creation titled “Piecemakers Time and Seasons 2022.”

For the show, the quilters club designs, pieces and quilts a bed-size quilt for raffle. This year’s raffle quilt titled “Blue Bird’s Bounty” was won by Barbara Zeutzius of Mancos.

Funds from the raffle and admission fees are distributed to five local charities. This year $3,000 was raised. The charities chosen for the donations will be decided in December.

The quilting group also donates dozens of quilts each year to families, children, veterans and those in needs.
