Logan Willbanks, 24, of Dolores, was killed about 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning after he was ejected from the pickup he was driving after it wandered off the right side of U.S. Highway 160 approaching Colorado Highway 140 intersection at Hesperus.
Colorado State Patrol Trooper Brandon Hollibaugh, lead investigator in the crash, said the GMC 2500 Duramax rolled twice, and he believes Willbanks was ejected after the first roll.
Willbanks was thrown several feet from the vehicle, and CPR was preformed but was unsuccessful, Hollibaugh said.
Willbanks was eastbound, and Hollibaugh said excessive speed was a factor in the single-vehicle, single-occupant crash. He said it was unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
