Dolores library plans summer concert and family film series

The Aloha Club is scheduled to perform on July 11 as part of the Dolores Public Library’s “Summer on the River” series. The performance will be followed by the family movie “Moana.”

As part of its 2018 Summer Reading Program, the Dolores Public Library will host an outdoor concert and film series, “Summer on the River,” featuring a lineup of local performers.

The hourlong performances, slated for alternating Wednesdays at 7:30 in June and July, will be followed up by a free screening of a family-friendly movie.

Green Table Food Truck of Mancos will be on deck selling food.

Kicking off the performances on June 6 is local music teacher Renita Conny and a group of student performers, followed by a screening of the 2005 film “School of Rock.”

Music starts at 7:30 p.m., and movies start at 8:30 p.m. Here is the full lineup:

Wednesday, June 6: Renita Conny and student performers; “School of Rock,” PG-13 Wednesday, June 20: Glenn Smith bluegrass performance; “Sing,” PG Wednesday, July 11: Aloha Club ukulele performance; “Moana,” PGWednesday, July 25: Blue Canyon Jazz; “La La Land,” PG-13Registered adults may also compete in “Library Bingo.” Participants who complete five book-related activities are eligible for a grand prize drawing for two Telluride Jazz Fest tickets, donated by the Friends of the Library.

The winner will be announced at the final “Summer on the River” performance on July 25. Registration is required, and information is at Doloreslibrary.org or at the library front desk.
