The Dolores Public Library has kicked off a community-wide reading program featuring local authors. Also, a re-enactment of a pioneer cattlewoman will be presented this month.
On Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m., local author C. Chuck Greaves will provide an introduction to his new book “Church of the Graveyard Saints.” Meet the author and find out more about his books.Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Local author Alan Mulak will discuss his book “Reboot,” a story about Rob Santos, who thought he had it all until his life was upended with one phone call. Rather than give into despair, Santos started a new life in a town called Dolores.On Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m., a reenactment of the life of local pioneer cattlewoman Lizzy Knight.Stories of the first female resident of Rico includes her immigration story, skills as a blacksmith and rancher.
Marsha Bankston was a sixth-generation heir of the land where the Knight Homestead is located. The Bankston ranch was designated a Centennial Farm by the state of Colorado in 1988 and continues as a working cattle ranch.
