Dolores Elementary School students in grades four through six have begun their first hands-on experience and classes with the National Archery in the Schools Program with physical education teacher Brooke Elder.

Dolores School District RE-4A approve and funded the program in cooperation with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and NASP. Classes started in October.

“Archery is a great leveling sport to offer to students,” Elder said in a news release. “Participants don’t have to be a typical superstar athlete to be good at archery.”

Dolores Middle and High Schools will also offer the program as part of its P.E. curriculum during the school year when the elementary is finished.
