GST Liquors’ strategy of product quality, variety and customer service has made them a favorite for locals, tourists, and travelers passing through Dolores.
It also earned them the Business of the Year Award from the Dolores Chamber of Commerce during the annual spring banquet.
“We’ve worked hard and really appreciate the recognition,” said manager Linda Johnson. “We’re so proud of our friendly staff and amazing selection in a clean, well organized store.”
Jami Sippel stocks the impressive wine selection, including national, international, and local varieties. She hosts free monthly wine tastings the third Friday of the month from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“We want to expand the palate of our customers,” Sippel said. “I do a lot of research on wine, and stock customer favorites.”
Vast choices of whiskeys, bourbons, rums, moonshine, vodkas, and tequilas are stocked in organized, lighted sections.
High-end varieties are also available for that special occasion, including tequilas Don Julio 1942 and Casa Dragones, Glen Moray Scotch, and Blanton’s bourbon, plus more.
“My goal is to have what you can’t get anywhere else,” Johnson said. “We really cater to what locals want, and the regular tourists and snowbirds are coming back too.”
The beer section will not disappoint, complete with the traditional styles and several coolers of craft beers, many from Colorado breweries.
The store has a drive-through and a beer cave, where customers can conveniently grab chilled cases. Well-done taxidermy is displayed throughout the store.
Owner Grant Smith built the store two years ago on the corner of 11th Street and Colorado Highway 145.
“He had the vision to create a quality liquor store that serves the local area, and also catches people going to Telluride or visiting the national forest,” Johnson said. “We’ve really picked up momentum.”
