This year, the Dolores School Booster Club is hosting its first Prom Fashion Show with the goal of helping high school students in the community access affordable prom dresses, tuxedos and suits.
The fashion show will include donated and new prom attire for high school students, on Friday, Feb. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Dolores High School Gym. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for a “special” prom pop-up shop.
Formal wear will be available for only $25, according to organizers, and the event is open to all students in the community, not just students at Dolores High School.
“Our event was made possible thanks to the generous donation of an anonymous donor who purchased 70 dresses and new men’s formal wear, including shirts, jackets and tuxedos,” said Staci Cost, secretary of the Dolores Booster Club. “It’s going to be a wonderful evening of fashion and fun, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our local businesses.”
At 6 p.m., the fashion show will start, and Dolores High School students will “take to the runway” to show the styles that are available to purchase in the pop-up shop. Organizers added that the event will “feature the debut” of this year’s prom fashion.
Appetizers, music and prizes will also be offered at the event, thanks to the donations of local businesses.
Tickets are on sale now, and are available at the Dolores secondary school office. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Each ticket includes a 50% off discount for the pop-up shop experience prior to the fashion show.
“We’re thrilled to bring this event to life and make prom more accessible to our community,” Cost said.
