The Heritage Council of Colorado Centennial-Bicentennial Commission this week endorsed five projects for historical preservation and also endorsed two books and a centennial steam powered excursion train. The historical restoration projects endorsed included the former Dolores County Court House in Rico. The town of Rico, population 275, wants to restore the old Dolores County Courthouse and use it as a museum, a town meeting hall and a clinic, if they can get a doctor to come in and use the facility one day a week. The county seat was moved from Rico to Dove Creek in 1946.
Exchange of Utah territory for a portion of purchase price of part of Western Colorado Power Company's properties was overwhelmingly defeated by stockholders of Empire Electric Association during a meeting Saturday when the tally of votes showed 71 for and 802 against the proposition.
At a special meeting of the Dolores Town Board, held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, Colorado State Highway Department representative McMillan appeared to open negotiations for right-of-way for the improved Dolores to Mancos highway.
On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hamilton drove to Kirtland, N.M. to visit with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bruebeck.

Brent Hamilton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hamilton, was released from a Durango hospital where he had surgery on his arm last week. He is reportedly up and around and feeling pretty good.
Doris Mozart has recently moved to Dolores from Rockford, Ill. and will be working in the Remuda Gallery with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Skip Anderson.
Mr. and Mrs. Theo Brooks of Dolores celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on Thursday, Nov. 14th. They sent their best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Everette Tibbits, their daughter and son-in-law who celebrated their anniversary on the same day. The Tibbits live in Crescent City, Nevada.
Mrs. Bill Bowden was one of the lucky winners of a door prize at the open house of Town and Country Furnishings on Sunday. She won a miniature Lane Cedar Chest.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ridgeway and four children moved down from Meeker about two weeks ago and at the present time are staying at the home of Mrs. Ridgeway's mother, Mr. and Mrs. George Green. Mr. Ridgeway is working at Aneth and they will be moving to Cortez where they have rented a home.
Leonard and Betty Uptain and daughter Nancy from Cortez visited with Pat and Ouida North and children on Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ragland and family were dinner guests at the home for Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bowlus in Cortez last Sunday evening.
