Jr. High wins over Egnar and Monticello

Coach Terry Winet said this week he is very pleased with the fine showing being made by the 7th and 8th grade teams with their four won and only one lost record so far this season.

Saturday they played Monticello and the 7th grade won 35-34 in a close game with Kenny Castor making 16 points and 16 assists while also matching that with 16 rebounds to his credit and Jim Scrivener had five steals.

In the 8th grade game it was 50-21 over Monticello with Ray Stephenson getting 12 points for high score honors with Orlando Lopez who also had 12 points. Stephenson had 15 rebounds, Larry Quintana had 4 steals and Dennis Vallejos had 4 assists.

Tuesday the junior high teams played Egnar with a 7th grade 47-13 win in which Castor made 16 points and Thompson 14. The two players had 14 rebounds each while Castor had 9 steals. Scrivener had 7 steals and Thompson had 4 assists.

In the 8th grade game they won 38-32 with Larry Quintana making 14 points. Stephenson had 19 rebounds in the game with Ricky Martinez getting 8 steals and Stephenson having 6 assists.

Their next game will be against Bayfield on January 4 there.
