IMCA competitions will take place on Cortez track
Drivers from across the Four Corners will compete this weekend at the Fairgrounds Speedway.

Looking to add another chapter to the exciting history of dirt track racing in Cortez, drivers from across the Four Corners will arrive at Fairgrounds Speedway this weekend to compete in several International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) races that will take place June 21 and June 22.

Among the cars scheduled to take part in the weekend event will be Quarter Midgets, Mini Sprints, Dwarfs, Sport Compacts, Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars, SportMods and Modifieds. Each classification will include heat races followed by an A-Main.

Drivers will earn points that will count toward the IMCA standings, and several local racing legends, including Tony Hill, Aaron Spangler and Brodie Spangler, are expected to fire up their engines.

Races will begin at 7 p.m. each evening and tickets can be obtained at the gate. Adult tickets are $10, senior citizens $6, and children between the ages of 6-13 are $6. A family pass that includes two adults and two children is $25, and concessions may be purchased at the track.
