The master gardener program, presented by Colorado State University Extension in Montezuma County, will run every Thursday from Jan. 31 through April 11.
Participants who are accepted will receive about 66 hours of training on subjects including lawn, shrubs, trees, vegetables, soils, fertilizers, water management, insects, diseases and pruning. They also may meet other gardeners and give volunteer time.
Classes will be taught by CSU Extension faculty and specialists.
The program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Training is available with a community volunteer commitment of 50 hours for $17, excluding book, or without the volunteer commitment for $530. Completed training will lead to a Colorado Gardener Certificate. Limited financial assistance and space are available.
