Cowbelles raise quilt along Main Street

Quilt to be raffled off at Livestock Association meeting in February

The Southwestern Cowbelles ceremoniously posted their annual quilt in the windows at Southwest Printing on Thursday, meaning that raffle tickets for a chance to take home the handcrafted quilt are available for purchase.

The Cowbelles are a women’s group that works alongside the Southwestern Colorado Livestock Association. They have been auctioning off a quilt at the Livestock Association’s annual meeting for nearly four decades, according to Cowbelle member Ann Neely.

Each square features the brand of a local rancher.

The brown and white quilt will be raffled off about 9 p.m. at this year’s Southwestern Colorado Livestock Association meeting at the Cortez Elks Lodge on Feb. 9. Funds raised from the raffle will go toward Cowbelle operations.

Southwest Printing is at 113 E. Main St.

Raffle tickets cost $1 apiece, or six for $5. For more information or to purchase tickets, call Mary Ellen McComb at 882-7928.
