A Cortez resident was allegedly shot by his roommate early Friday morning, and his roommate is being held for attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault.

The Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched about 2:40 a.m. Saturday to Southwest Memorial Hospital, where a person was being treated for a gunshot wound received at a residence in the 24000 block of County Road L in Cortez.
The victim suffered a single bullet wound, and was later released. The suspect was identified as Robert Reinfeld, age 39, who resides with the victim.
Reinfeld was located Saturday and arrested by the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office and likely will be charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
