Cortez Pepperjax beat Farmington Panthers 7-6

12-and-under baseball team now 3-2 this season

The Cortez Pepperjax on Saturday beat the Farmington Panthers 7-6, putting the 12-and-under team at 3-2 on the season in the Farmington Amateur Baseball Congress league.

With the victory, starting pitcher Chase York is now undefeated from the mound at 3-0.

The Pepperjax are in seventh place among the division’s 20 teams.

Landon Ward, Lucas Monarco, Kendrick McPherson and Malachi Padilla had clutch hits with the game on the line, head coach Jason Hernandez told The Journal in an email. Art Lein relieved York on the mound in the fifth inning and struck out three Panthers to get the save.

Next, the Pepperjax will play Friday, June 3, against Next Level 4C at 5:30 p.m. and against the New Mexico Pack at 7:15 p.m.
