Authorities have arrested a 50-year-old Cortez man on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with a death last week in Ignacio.
The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office on Monday announced Robert Dean Rose was arrested about 4 p.m. Sunday after being spotted at the Starbucks in downtown Durango.
Rose was booked into the La Plata County Jail without bail.
The Sheriff’s Office on May 13 responded to a home a few miles north of Ignacio in the 400 block of County Road 509 after a body was found at the residence.
The body was identified as Mark Wayman, 65. La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith said Wayman died from a gunshot wound.
The Sheriff’s Office also said Monday the 2005 Dodge Neon that police were looking for has been recovered.
